Putting stories to work wins Axiom award

Back in late 2014, Shawn resolved to start writing a book on business storytelling to share what we had learned about achieving business results using the power of stories. It was 10 years since Shawn founded the company and it was definitely time to get the book out.

Like most books, the writing was a lot harder than it appears at face value. Shawn’s discipline was very impressive. He got out of bed at 5am every morning for a year and wrote for at least 2 hours. In mid-December 2015 he sent me a text: ‘I’ve just typed the final full stop’.

We launched the book on 20 March 2016: World Storytelling Day. Since then it has received many accolades.

The biggest accolade was last Friday, when Shawn opened a large envelope from the Axiom Business Books Awards 2017. It contained a letter explaining that Putting Stories to Work has been awarded the joint Gold Medal (category winner) in its category. The co-winner was Nancy Duarte’s book IlluminateThe full list of winners is here

We’ve just halted the next re-print of the paperback so we can include the Axiom gold medal on the cover.

Everyone here at Anecdote is extremely proud of the book and of Shawn’s commitment in bringing it to life.

This accolade is richly deserved and we all congratulate him on this achievement.
